Kanzake has lots in common with real ale IMO - especially the older kimoto sakes. That's probably part 3. Because it looks like part 2 got hijacked by aperitif cocktails that are mostly nigori or doboroku
If you are outside Japan you may be in trouble as my guess is they won't ship outside Japan. That's probably because governments make international booze sales almost impossible.
Ah he probably can and if not that particular sparkling there are others. But if he's stationed in Iwakuni then getting that one should be a doddle since the Kura's basically in the middle of town
As a home brewer I've brewed a sparkling Nigorizake (OK, OK, a sparkling Doburoku.) that Japanese visitors found quite drinkable.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Yagi-Syuzoubu sake brewery in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture some years back and chatting with the staff.
The Toji asked the manager if he could bring out a special sake for me to taste. Turned out it was a one time brew, never bottled never sold and drinking it made me realize there's sake, there's sake and there's SAKE!
Ahhhhh. Nihonshu.
Thank you. I’m more a “real ale” person, but this encyclopaedia now put “faces” to the names.

Got it!
The sparkling Gangi looks fun - Is it possible to order it online anywhere? I went to the website but it appears to be wholesale only.
Maybe? If you are in Japan then the Japanese disitributor pages has a section for online shops - https://yaoshin.co.jp/category/distributor/?url=1
Try one of them?

Thanks much. I’m in the states but my son is stationed in Japan. I wonder if he could bring some back but it sounds like probably not?

I found a place that imports Gangi - https://www.tippsysake.com/collections/gangi - but it doesn't list the sparkling sake. Perhaps you could contact them and ask.

Ah yes. I've had a couple of those.
You are breaking my heart. Is any of this stuff available in the US?
Quite a lot is. Take a look at https://www.tippsysake.com/
